Hailing from East London and Essex, ECHO are all Christians and as such love to worship God and they all also love to sing and play classic Motown and soul music – so to them, what could be a more natural musical combination than bringing the two together! There are some famous classic soul songs which, with a little lyrical re-visiting and modification, become wonderful beautiful songs of worship and truth. ECHO love to sing these songs to their Lord with a truly worshipful heart and in sharing them with people, either in concert or as part of a church service aim to point people back towards the true love and grace of God and lead other believers in worshipping in the same way. All this using songs that everyone can and do hear everyday on the radio or TV or indeed have in their own music collections.
All the members of ECHO bring together years of performing and a true love and knowledge of music and their live performances, with the Echo sisters forming a vocal powerhouse out front, are an energised joyful event that everyone should have the pleasure of experiencing. As Greg shared, “We’ve had great fun adapting adapting these songs and we find everyone loves to sing along when we perform them. Everyone has heard the original versions of these songs before. The Wesley’s and the Salvation Army did something similar in their times and cultures by taking well known and favourite tunes and songs and adapting them into (what we now think of as) classic church hymns and choruses so we do acknowledge that we are doing a modern day version of the same thing and nothing is new. But we do feel in good company!”
ECHO say their aim is to bring worship to the streets. And so far they appear to be doing just that, having performed their stunning soul in church services, street parties, private house parties, church concerts, clubs, theatres and festivals. Along with the constant live work they have also done several great radio slots and interviews. This included a very successful visit to London’s Premier Radio in the summer of 2014 which resulted in them being invited back for a return interview and live performance as part of the Premier Radio Christmas celebrations.
Following the fantastic critical reception and reaction to the band’s debut album “Bought Not Souled”, the summer of 2015 saw them releasing a 3 song EP of previously unreleased material and plans for a follow up album are well underway.
2016 finds the band still regularly performing at all kinds of venues and events across the country but they are also hard at work on their second album. We can’t wait to hear that!
Catch them on their journey and fill your soul with some truly uplifting soul! You can also find their music on all leading digital music download and streaming sites worldwide.
